Welcome Mr.Umesh Cotacha London Guest and longterm friend. Period 27 April-4 May 2009. Mr. Umesh are Business houseware from London. Often travel to Bangkok pass by China. We know each other for 3+ years now.

Unfortunately this trip I did't at home. We were flying the same day. I departure in the morning and he arriving in the evening. But I prepared the driver and person who will pick him up from Airport...so no need to be worry..;)

But before I leaving I manage schedule for my sister (Tai's) who work for me when I am away and Mr.Umesh to know what they're have to do. And my sister she will manage this trip.

Some another problem is Mr.Umesh need to meet someone from Red-Bull Company for trying to get some information about import-export. And another one is about skin product. It's not well done because I'm not at home for the moment. I promise to do my best next trip. But about Tailor made and hospital visiting my sister she did a great job.

Well, because I not at home that's made I cannot cooking for Mr.Umesh also he vegetarian guy. So...that's I give this job to my auntie's. She's good cooking and all it well done.

Our first homestay guest coming from Japan her name is Mari Akagi, 21 years old, lovely girl from Osaka . Professional is Nasik Student. She visiting Thailand-Bangkok for Massage training at Wat Po near by our place. She bring a lovely Japanese cookie in lovely box for us. And our souvenir is bandana from north. We are everyday dining together and I prepare breakfast for her before go to her class. In the evening she back home at 18 pm of everyday and after diner she always like to playing with my little boy (Nephew) I'll place the photos after I arrive home. She staying from 07/03/2009 - 12/03/2009 Total 5 nights. Unfortunately I did't get any word from her because we were busy and she in a rush to leaving. I hope to get some news from her again soon.

Homestay

Homestay is a form of tourism and/or study abroad program that allows the visitor to rent a room from a local family to better learn the local lifestyle as well as improve their language ability. While homestays can occur in any destination worldwide, some countries do more to encourage homestay than others as a means of developing their tourism industry. Hosting a homestay participant also allows the local family to earn some additional, needed income. Having low profitability, as it is, homestay can not be regarded as strictly commercial activity, but more of cross cultural exchange.[verification needed] Students generally arrange a homestay with their school or educational institution, but can also informally arrange to stay with a family through social connections, and through a variety of private agencies. There are a number of online homestay agencies that connect students with hosts all over the world (usually for a nominal fee).

Types of homestays

Homestay scenarios can range from a completely immersive family experience, to a very basic room rental.

In the immersive family experience a homestay student lives, eats, and shares the majoritiy of their time in the host country with the hosts and their family. Family events such as dining out, amusement parks, camping, travel, etc. usually involve the host student who may or may not be expected to pay a portion for the participation (tickets, parking, gas, travel expenses, et al.) The student is invited to participate in Holiday festivities (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) and family events (weddings, birthdays, etc.)

At the other end of the spectrum, students may simply be renting a room within a private home with minimal supervision from a host or family.

Additionally, there are a working homestay agreements where a student is expected to perform duties such as yard work, farm work, babysitting, maid services - usually in exchange for accommodation fees or as part of.

Typical contracts and agreements

A clash of cultures can sometimes result between a homestay student and the host family. To mitigate any issues, most homestay arrangements involve a contract or written agreement between the host and student. A contract will outline what is expected of the homestay student and may include items such as;

Chores to perform (cleaning, laundering), Curfews, Use of the Internet, television, Use of the telephone, Guest visits, Smoking/drinking rules.

As well as the details of what is being provided by the host in terms of:

Accommodations

Furniture/facilities

Meal provisions

Transportation

Communications (Internet, telephone)

Entertainment (TV, radio)

Generally, a host must provide a private room for sleep and study that has a lock and a washroom must be available that is convenient for the student to use. Most other items are negotiable in terms of availability and price.

Risks for the host

Typically, hosting a homestay student is a rich and rewarding experience that allows the sharing of cultures, information, and experience. However, studying abroad is often the first time the homestay student is away from the parents and home country. This may result in adjustment issues for the student. The host must be able to deal with separation issues, anxiety, and the like.

Scams on the internet are becoming fairly commonplace - when engaging in financial transactions that may require international payments, cheques, and money orders being sent there is always the possibility of making oneself vulnerable to scams and fraud. The host family is best to educate themselves on the issues, and protect themselves adequately through the use of a good contract.

A recent and common example of a scam perpetrated on host families plays as follows;

Parents of a student email the host family to request a room - usually claiming to be from Europe/Asia.

The host replies with availability and costs etc.

The parent agrees to the fees, and offers to pay the fees up front.

Usually some sort of family crisis arises, and the transaction must be handled with urgency.

The parent sends payment with an overage, and aks the host to refund the excess payment.

The host family refunds the payment.

The intial payment (cheque, money order, etc.) bounces or is fraudulent.

The host family has lost the money it has sent as a refund.

This scam can happen in any situation any time payment is required in the form of cheque/money order/cashiers cheque, etc. In-depth discussion on frauds of this type is beyond the scope of this article, but the host family is encouraged to exercise caution when dealing with overseas payments and transactions.

Risks for the student/guest

There are two basic motivations for a family to engage in the operation of a homestay:

The family is looking to assist students, inject culture, and better understand the world and its people through a mutual exchange of traditions, knowledge and culture.

The family is looking to augment their income.

Usually, a family bears a healthy mix of these two reasons in opening their home to students and international visitors.

Occasionally, however, there are instances where a family, or individual, is looking only to capitalize on the financial opportunity and has little or no concern for the interests of the student.

A student is encouraged to look at the history of students and guests that the family has hosted, and to ask for a reference from a student who has recently attended their homestay. If a family refuses to give a reference, a student is advised to stay away. Also, look for a contract that not only protects the interests of the homestay host, but also the interests of the student. There should be a clear listing of the obligations of both the student and host family.

Undoubtedly one of the most popular places to eat in Bangkok is alfresco-style like the locals do on the street. Fold-up tables and little plastic chairs might not be your idea of elegant dining, but certainly makes for a memorable experience. The night market in nearby homestayhas a tremendous atmosphere. As well as the food stalls there are many other stalls where you can find items such as noodle, rice, seafood, fruits and many other.

Kanabnam Restaurant (10 minutes walk)

The food is authentic and delicious, ideally suited to the mainly al fresco setting right on the river. The menu helpfully includes pictorial representations of the dishes to assist foreign diners with their menu selections. Although the essence of simplicity, the house speciality crispy noodles should not be missed; it is well prepared here. A visit would not be complete without sampling fried crab with black pepper, but be prepared to attack this dish handson, the sense of touch enhancing the taste of crab meat infused with spicy black pepper. Needless to say, fish is in abundance. Try steamed goby with soysauce, perfectly fresh and succulent. Meat lovers will also enjoy fried ostrich with black pepper and baked goose legs with noodles. And for the adventurous, the menu also extends to exotic sounding snakehead fish, duck's tongue soup and goosewebs. A limited dessert menu includes sticky rice with mango.

Rapidly establishing itself as Asia's capital of cool, Bangkok's diverse nightlife scene features everything from excellent live music and good jazz clubs to ultra cool bars, trendy clubs and great restaurants - and go far beyond its once-upon-a-time sleazy and naughty image. Khao San Road:

Khao San Road takes off at night: neon signs flicker into life, music begins blasting from streetside sound systems, while the masses begin mapping out the long, alcohol-soaked night in front of them. And there's no shortage of choices. From the (relatively) upscale Silk Bar and Cinnamon, to the quiet tranquility of the back-alley Hippie de Bar, or the crude charms of a kerb-side cocktail shack complete with plastic stools and ghetto blaster, there's something to suit every mood, taste, budget and state of cleanliness. Some of the truly thrifty even opt to purchase beers from the local 7/11 and drink on the street, hobo style.

Khao San Road's bars and pubs offer something for every mood, from loud and raucous, to quiet and laid back. Some give live music pride of place, others prefer lounging and a quiet cocktail. Ones we think are worth checking out include Brick Bar, Buddy Beer, Cinnamon Bar, Gullivers, Hippie De Bar, Shamrock and Silk Bar.

Sukumvit Road:

Along it, and its many adjoining sois, are countless pubs and bars, many of them very popular with expats and tourists. Most are either American-style bars or European watering holes, with the selection of draught beers and foods on sale usually reflecting the adopted theme (and more often than not the nationality of the owner).

They usually close between midnight and 01:00, and many have live music and pool tables.

Sukhumvit is also notorious for being home to more than its fair share of girls, but not the kind you'd rush home to meet mother (do we need to spell it out?). Nana Plaza (Soi 4) is a tatty three-floor sex-mall filled with go-go bars and girls, ladyboys and the odd midget. Neon-lit lane, Soi Cowboy (off Soi 21, BTS Asok), is similar but a little more laid-back.

On top of the pole-sliding antics of the go-go bars, Sukhumvit is also home to many beer-bars, like Soi 4's Big Dogs and Hilary Bar II. These rundown establishments, typically contain little more than a pool table, a gaggle of girls, and an arsenal of cheap alcohol. Like Soi 4, Soi 22 is home to a staggering amount , while Soi 33 has many upscale hostess lounges staffed by girls dressed in long flowing ballgowns. However, the end game is still the same. Massage parlours and the odd after-hours joint can also be found scattered around Sukhumvit.

Tesco Lotus: (10 minutes by car)

Located on Jaransanitwong Road and Pinklao road, (although there are many all around Bangkok), is an enormous supermarket which has other shops adjoining. It is definitely worth a visit when you are in Bangkok, if only for the food court which is encircled with a multitude of things for children to enjoy.

Central Pinklao: (15 minutes by bus)

Despite all the newcomers to the shopping mall scene in Bangkok, Central Pinklao is easily one of the best. It is another beautiful shopping mall with everything brand name available and some great sales. One of the biggest advantages of this shopping mall is the ease of navigation, it is a store and built as such without the

hundreds of shops you will find in other places. If you do go to this shopping mall make sure you try the quite amazing food court - Food Loft - on the five floor.

Bobae Tower: (25 minutes by car)

Is a wholesale market which offers mainly clothes and textiles. Items can be bought at very cheap prices in bulk.

Pratunam Market (30 minutes by car)

Is one of Bangkok's major markets, focusing on clothes which makes it Thailand's largest clothing market. The name Pratunam means Water gate. The market is open 24 hours a day with varying offerings, from 9-20 (in reality more like 11-18) the retail shops are open, later on the evening outdoor stalls mainly geared for tourists come to populate the street sides. It's located at the intersection of Ratchaprarop and Phetburi roads in the district Ratchathewi. This is maybe the cheapest market for buying clothes, fabrics and textiles in central Bangkok.

Pantip Plaza (30 minutes by car)

Pantip Plaza is an indoor IT shopping mall located on New Phetchaburi Road in Ratchathewi district, Bangkok, Thailand. The sale of counterfeit software and DVDs are some reasons behind this mall's success and notoriety. Pantip Plaza is open daily from 10 AM to 9 PM. The stores within the plaza are free to operate their own hours. However, by 7:30 PM to 8 PM, many of the stores are already closing down.

MBK (Maboonkrong) (45 minutes by car)

Is 6 floors of little shops that sell assorted goods. Everything can be bought here at very good prices. It is hectic and busy especially at the weekend, but if you are looking for a bargain this is a great, if not a tiring place to start.

The Grand Palace
Every visitor to Bangkok should see the magnificent buildings within the Grand Palace compound to get a feeling of the grandeur architectural style.

Wat Pho

This is possibly the most interesting temple in Thailand as it combines history, medical science and is a center for meditaion and traditional massage training. Its official name is Wat Phrachetuphon Vimon Mangkararam Ratchaworamahawihan, although it is commonly called Wat Po.

Wat Arun

Wat Arun, often called The Temple of Dawn, is one of the most remarkable visual identities of Bangkok. The imposing Khmer-style prang or tower is 67 metres tall and decorated with bits of porcelain that was used as ballast by boats coming from China. It is surrounded by four smaller prangs. Construction of the prangs were started by King Rama II and completed by King Rama II.

The National Museum
A visit to the National Museum reveals the history of Thailand And how people lived during the different periods. It gives you a view through the windows of the past.

The City Pillar Shrine

According to an old Thai tradition, a city pillar had to be built upon the establishment of a new city. King Rama I had the Bangkok city pillar erected near the Temple of the Emerald Buddha on Sunday, 21 April, 1782, with the citys horoscope inside. The original pillar was made of cassia wood known as Chaiyaphruek, measuring 75 cm. in diameter and 27 cm. high. In the reign of King Rama IV, the old dilapidated pillar was replaced by a new one made of the same kind of wood, measuring 270 cm. high and standing on a base of 175 cm. wide, sheltered by a Prang-shaped shrine as it appears today. The shrine also houses images of protective deities including Thepharak, Chaopho Ho Klong, Phra Suea Mueang, Phra Song Mueang, Chaopho Chetakhup and Phra Kan Chai Si.

Vimanmek Palace

An outstanding example of 19th century architecture. While admiring the craftsmanship of the carpenters, you will travel back through time to gain a rare insight into the lifestyle of royalty.

Wat Suthat and the Giant Swing

A visit to Wat Suthat Thep Wararam, situated almost in the center of old Bangkok, gives you an opportunity to see both the Giant Swing and one of the first-class Royal temples. The surrounding area is also worth exploring as there are many shops selling religious items.

Wat Sa Ket and The Golden Mount

This landmark, on the only hill in Bangkok, is of great significance for all followers of The Lord Buddha. 320 stairs take you up to the top for panoramic views of the Rattanakosin Island.

Wat Ratchanatdaram

Located on Mahachai Road, the temple was built in the reign of King Rama III in 1846. Loha Prasat, the temples main attraction, standing 36 metres high with 37 surrounding spires, is the only one of its kind left in the world. Next to the temple is the area for welcoming an important foreign guest and a memorial statue of King Rama III.

Royal Barge National Museum

The Royal Barge Procession is one of the most spectacular events in the world. It is performed occasionally during the Tod Kathin Buddhist Festival when H.M. The King delivers new robes to the monks at Wat Arun. It was also seen by millions of viewers around the world when it was specially staged for the 2003 APEC Conference in Bangkok and broadcast live to the participating countries.

Canal Tours

The most popular klong trips start on the Bangkok side of the Chao Phraya River and cross over to the Thonburi side to venture up Bangkok Noi and Bangkok Yai canals. These journeys take you to fascinating places such as The Royal Barge Museum and the colonial-style Thonburi Railway Station. On the way you will see a different side of life as you pass the homes of the klong-dwellers. Each home seems to have its own boat, be it a small canoe or a hang yao the long-tailed boats powered by car or truck engines and a propeller on a long shaft that acts as both propulsion and steerage.

Wat Trai Mit

Have you ever seen five and a half tons of goldω Wat Trai Mit, near the Bangkok Railway Station at Hua Lamphong, is home to the famous Golden Buddha which is 3 metres high. The Golden Buddha is believed to be 700 to 800 years old as it is in the Mara attitude, typical of the Sukhothai era. It was installed at Wat Phrayakrai in the Yannawa area of Bangkok during the reign of King Rama III where it stayed until 1931.

Khon Masked Dance at Sala Chalermkrung Theatre

Khon is Thailand’s classical masked dance that is regarded as one of the most refined of performing arts. It was originally limited to the royal court. Performances are extremely expensive to produce, requiring lavish costumes, elaborate masks and headgear, and stage accessories that require highly skilled craftsmen to create. The scenes performed in the traditional Khon are taken from the Ramakien, a series of significant episodes in Thai literature based on the Indian epic of classical mythology the Ramayana that greatly influenced the literature of almost all nations in Southeast Asia.

Victory Monument

The monument is situated on Phahonyothin Road. It was constructed in 1941 under the premiership of Field Marshal Plaek Pibulsongkhram in order to praise the heroic deeds of soldiers, policemen and civilians who sacrificed their lives in a dispute between Thailand and France on the demarcation between Thailand and other Indochinese nations. The dispute ended with a compromise being agreed by the two parties, and 59 casualties. Victory Monument was, therefore, established as a memorial to their bravery.

Bangkok Dolls & Museum

Bangkok Dolls have won several awards for their creations. A single-storey workshop and Doll Museum in the Chandavimol family compound at 85 Soi Ratchataphan (Soi Mo Leng) in Bangkoks Makkasan district is the magnet for several visitors who wish to inspect these miniature creations in all their wondrous variety.

DUSIT ZOO (Khao Din)

Dusit Zoo (Khao Din) is a very popular place for family with children or even for young couple and all ages. This zoo and park is located at Rama V Road, Dusit ,Bangkok, and adjacent to the Old Parliament. Local Thai people know that Dusit Zoo has lush green surrounds and many flowering shrubs and trees withlarge ponds complete with foot-paddle boats, play -grounds for the kids and shady picnic areas. Bangsaen Beach

This is a little piece of paradise hidden away from the tourist spotlight. Only one and a half hours from Bangkok at that! Bang Saen, or Ban Bang Saen, has a population of less than 10,000 and is part of Saensuk Municipality, which in turn belongs to Chon Buri Province. Pattaya is less than an hour away and while it seems to attract vast numbers of international visitors, Bang Saen is a local haunt.

Bang Saen Beach, 100 km southeast of Bangkok and about 10 km from the provincial capital of Chonburi, is a day trip for residents of Bangkok, and is visited mostly on weekends by Thai tourists looking for a relaxing day on the sand. Eclipsed in recent decades by Pattaya, it was once the favorite getaway for Bangkok's elite. Now it attracts mostly Thai families and teenagers looking for a brief, low budget holiday weekend.

One of the best things about Bang Saen was the large number of local restaurants and bars and the relaxed atmosphere everywhere one goes. The nightlife in Bang Saen is completely different to that of beach towns in Thailand I've visited. Virtually all of our fellow diners and drinkers were locals and the live bands that played from time to time were singing Thai pop or Thai versions of western classics. Pretty good too! One musician we came across was able to play ten instruments.Enjoyed checking out all the different bars. You can hop in a taxi bus and move from bar to bar. There are plenty of places to see and it's easy to get around. The only 'adult' night life in town was far away from the beach area. It's present, that's for sure - just not not as obvious as in Pattaya or Phuket.

North Pattaya Beach

Bangkok-Pattaya is approximately 135 km. By Taxi 1 hour 45 mins

Nostalgic serenity North Pattaya or Pattaya Neau is the most peaceful beach among the three main beaches in town. Mass tourism originated on this beach before it spread to north and south Pattaya. Many hotels that were established three decades ago can still be seen lining this brown sandy beach, proving its longevity and popularity. The beach starts from the Dolphin roundabout in front of Dusit Resort. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent along this shady beach while restaurants, bars and convenient stores are just walking distance.

Central Pattaya Beach

Central Pattaya: The beach of fun Just a little bit south of North Pattaya passing the golden mermaid and dolphin statues is Central Pattaya, the beach of fun. This is the most popular and, certainly, lively beach in Pattaya. This is the area where shopping malls, boutique shops, bars, restaurants and coffee shops are crammed along a busy beachside road. There are more beach chairs, umbrellas and tourists in Central Pattaya than other beaches. During the day, the area is enthusiastic with beachgoers frolicking on the beach or enjoying several kinds of water sports activities such as jet skiing, banana boat, paragliding and parasailing. At night, the street is illuminated with pubs, bars and restaurants. Middle Pattaya may not be the most favourite place in Pattaya but it is usually the place ones choose not to be missed.

South Pattaya Beach

South Pattaya is located next to Central Pattaya. The area may not have an attractive beach like North or Middle Pattaya. People seem to come here for a different reason. Looking more energetic at night, it draws many fun-loving tourists who stroll this 500 metre lane looking for a fun time after dark. Numerous shops, restaurants, bars, discotheques, nightclubs line the streets. Thus, it is the place for adults only.

Jomtien Beach

Jomtien Beach Situated 3 kilometers southward of the downtown, Jomtien is a spin-off from Pattaya. This 6 kilometre long beach may bear some resemblance to Pattaya beach in terms of beach activities. However, it has an ambience of isolation. Thanks to its distance from Pattaya. The beach is suitable for swimming as plenty of water sports activities are available. Accommodations on this beach are relatively cheap and there are enough restaurants to serve diners. Off the street to Jomtien Beach is another beach named Dong Tan. It has a more relaxing atmosphere than its neighbouring beaches due to its no-car parking policy. Indeed, cars are allowed to pass and park on this beach only before 10 am and after 5 pm. The beach is shady with pine trees and beach umbrellas. Therefore, this is the place where you will see beachgoers joyfully basking in the sun.

Naklua Beach (1 km. walk from Pattaya)

Naklua Beach is the most northerly of the bays and by far the quietest. Naklua is much smaller than its neighbours and it does not suffer from the mass development Pattaya Beach has experienced. Like Jomtien it is more family friendly. The Pattaya municipality spent 1.8 million Baht on cleaning up the waters around Pattaya, and in Nakula it is now possible to see fish in the water. This makes bathing in the sea a genuine pleasure. Nakula is also a centre for windsurfers and windsurfing equipment can be hired from the beach.

Koh Lan (Lan Island)

Koh Lan (Lan Island) 81 Kilometres from Bangkok. Only 7 kilometres off Pattaya shore, Koh Lan is the most visited island in Chonburi Province. It’s conveniently accessible with regular ferry and speedboat leaving Balihai pier in south Pattaya as early as 8 o’clock. It’s the island of fun. Each beach offers a variety of activities from water sports to sunbathing.

Beaches in Koh Lan Haad Ta Waen is the longest and most popular beach of Koh Lan. Located in the northwest of the island, this 750-metre-long beach has clear waters and white fine sand. The beach, which is popular among Asian tourists, is lined with colourful beach chairs, shops and restaurants. Located in the west of Koh Lan is Haad Tian. This scenic beach in the cove stretches 500 metres long and features some coral reefs. It is as popular as Haad Ta Waen with loads of sport activities and restaurants on the offer. Another beach near Haad Ta Waen is Haad Sungwal. It is a small beach, only around 150 metres long. Without any shops or restaurant in the area, the beach is quieter than Haad Ta Waen and good for sunbathing. For those who prefer basking in the sun in peace, Haad Samae and Haad Ta Yai may serve your purpose. The first beach, which is only 10 minute walk from Haad Tian, is relatively quiet with shops and restaurants dotting the area. Nestling on the northern tip of the island, the latter beach has fewer beach goers and only one beachside restaurant.

Cha-am Beach

Cha-am Beach is located 200 km South of Bangkok. Getting quickest and easiest way of getting to Cha am. The trip should take about 2 and a half hours by Taxi. Cha-am Beach is renowned for being the best beach in Phetchaburi. Cha-am's fame was established when it's neighbour Hua Hin became a royal resort and members of the royal family commented that Cha-am was just as beautiful. As a result, Cha-am has become a firm favourite with weekend visitors from Bangkok, and is becoming increasingly popular with international visitors keen on experiencing a genuinely Thai resort town.

There's a complete absence of bars along the beach local bylaws won't permit them. There are though numerous hotels and restaurants dotted about the 3 kilometre long beach and it' easy to pick up a place to rest in a deckchair under an umbrella. You can get a donkey ride if you want one and it is possible to rent bicycles to explore the area. There are also herds of food stalls selling excellent snacks.

Cha-am is remarkable in that it is unremarkable this is a pleasant beach with green water and that's about it. Cha-am is not in your face and that can make a genuine change and probably what is making it more attractive to foreigners.

Chao Samran Beach

Haad Chao Samran is the closest beach to Phetburi and enjoys immense popularity amongst the Thais, so if you are after a quite day at the beach, weekdays are your best bet.

Slightly nicer than Haad Puk Tian the beach here is in better shape and the town is not quite as desolate with loads of eateries and excellent seafood. There is also a beach wat, a police station and a few small supermarkets here.

For birdwatchers, try the expansive marshy land (competing with the inevitable shrimp farms and half constructed condominiums) between Haad Puk Tian and Haad Chao Samran.

Puk Tien Beach

Had Puk Tien is also long and quiet, but here you will find a plethora of accommodations and a large statue in the water commemorating Phra Apaimani.

Surrounded by profound natural beauty of long white sand beach and refreshing cool breeze.

This tiny coastal town is very popular on weekend but remains virtually deserted during the week. The coastline is straight, flat and not particularly interesting but fine for a quick dip if you are staying in Phetburi town and there is a multitude of places to eat in the area.

Aside from eating stacks of cheap and tasty seafood under the causarina trees there's not much to do aside from marvel at the statues of Thai mythological characters that are arranged down on the beach. Protagonists in the Thai epic 'Phra Aphaimani', the gruesome six metre tall Pee Seua Samut (an aquatic she-demon) emerging from the sea is particular worthy of comment.Others include a flute playing prince, poised on a nearby pile of offshore rocks and a motley collection of other mermaids, wizened old men and other characters from the same tale.

Hua Hin Beach

When compared to Bangsaphan Hua Hin is a bustling metropolis. Hua Hin has hundreds of hotels, guesthouses, bars and restaurants so you're really spoilt for choice. The one thing lacking that Bangsaphan does have in its favour is a clear blue ocean.

Hua Hin is located approx. 190 km south of Bangkok and 3 hours drive from Bangkok and 92 kilometres north of Prachuab Khiri Khan, its provincial chief town and it is a coastal, well known resort town, set on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand, Hua Hin has a population of around 60,000 people, the King of Thailand has his summer palace Klai Kang Won (Far from Worries) adjoining the beach.

Hua Hin has one of the lowest rain falls in Thailand and being a coastal town gets that lovely sea breeze, so can be visited all year round. There are three seasons, the dry season (March-September), the rainy season (October - November) and the warm season (November-February). One of the lowest rainfalls of any beach area. Weather is hot but refreshed by a cooling sea breeze. Most days offer clear blue skies and sometimes billowing white clouds. Hua Hin was chosen as the Royal resort due to the excellent weather and climate.

Among the most important landmark is the Klai Kang Won Palace, a royal summer residence built by King Rama VII. The major nightlife attraction which is very popular with both Thai and foreign tourists is the night market. A wide choice of cuisines naturally with many fine Thai restaurants.

Hua Hin has night markets, stylish shops and boutiques. There are many old style and art shops close to the fishing piers, art and crafts shops .

The main beach area fronts the town itself where many fine resorts are found. Beaches to the north and south . The beaches at Khao Takiab (Chopsticks Hill) and Takiab Bay (Chopsticks Bay) are just to the south of the town centre. Hua Hin beaches stretch along the coast both north and south. For out door fun and adventure you can enjoy watersports, Elephant rides, All terrain Vehicle rides, fishing and boat trips. Khao Takiab Bay is a popular beaches with clear clean water and gentle waves, beach loungers and beach umbrellas for shade. Palm trees and Casuarana trees line the long beach at Takiab Bay. These beach areas are also popular for jogging and beach cycling. The area also offers the opportunity to visit the temples of Khao Takiab, feed the monkeys, climb to the viewpoint. The Khao Takiab area has many temples includes many built many years ago. Snorkeling is available a few hours south . The River Kwai is just 3 hours from Hua Hin . The National Park at Sam Roi Yot (Three Hundred Peaks) is just 30 minutes south of town.

Pranburi Beach

Pranburi is some 30 kilometres south of Hua Hin and a district of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province . The beach itself may not be spectacular but its peaceful environment infuses a sense of privacy and exclusivity. It was never a popular weekend destination among travelers. In the past, holidaymakers preferred to stay in Hua Hin and drive to Pranburi for a one day trip.

However, this is not the case, today, since it becomes a popular getaway among travelers from Bangkok who seek to relax in style. That contributes to the increase in the number of chic and boutique resorts. The trend started in 2002 when Soneva hotelier group opened its first boutique resort in Pranburi. The resort was a huge success, luring local and foreign investors to follow its footstep. Yet it maintains its serenity. Some resorts in Pranburi offer a shuttle van service for their customers who want to go to Hua Hin for a night out. Nowadays, Pranburi is a tourist attraction by its own.

Khao Takiab Beach

Khao Takiab Beach are located in the Hua Hin area on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand. The surrounds offer beaches, elephant rides, boat trips, offshore fishing, horse riding, cycling and nearby Golf Courses. Ideal for those seeking a beach area that is quiet and relaxing and yet just minutes from the busy center of Hua Hin. At low tide during most of the day the beach is almost 100 metres wide and is several kms long.

There are beach loungers and shades and also fern and palm trees along the beach. The water is clean and the waves are just gentle ripples. At the north end the rocky mountain of Khao Takiab is an amazing view. Ideal for jogging you also find people paying petanque and volley ball, even when busy at weekends there is plenty of room and beach space to find your own quiet area. Beach vendors to not bother anyone but are available for a cold drink, tropical fruit or food snacks. The area behind the beach has Bourganvillia lined quiet streets with vacation homes, small guesthouses, boutique accommodation. You will also find Elephant and also grazing cattle, this is a very nice area and under 10 minutes from the centre of Hua Hin.

Bang Saphan Beach

Bang Saphan is a sleepy beach town on the Gulf of Thailand, it can be reached from Bangkok, 380km away, in approximately 5 hours by road. There are actually two Bangsaphan's; Bangsaphan Noi and Bangsaphan Yai (meaning big and small when translated from Thai). We will focus on the larger since not a lot happens in the smaller.

There are several local attractions including Koh Talu where day trips are popular. We also have a detailed accommodation guide listing Bangsaphan hotels, resorts, guesthouses and bungalows.

A Bangsaphan feeding guide highlights all the local and expat restaurants serving good food. There are a couple of friendly little beach bars in Bang Saphan that are also included. A great way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

A flavor of Thai courses are short courses, conducted in English by Thai Chef, offer to anyone from beginners as well as experienced cooks, and perfect for those with limited travel time, too.

Our Chefs will guide you through a session of “completely hands-on“ fun filled courses with emphasis on the art of fine Thai cooking in a relaxed social environment. The courses concentrated on local & fine Thai cuisine using the freshest local & seasonal produce. You will be learnt during the class: traditional and practical Thai techniques as well as the substitutions to Thai local ingredients in which to ensure you can prepare the dishes authentically and innovatively back home.
